Brake, Transmission and Engine Components: The Engineering Standard for Strength and Durability

MGM Casting has been developing high-precision components for power transmission and control systems, considered the heart of industry, since 1954. Brake, transmission, and engine components are the most critical building blocks that determine not only the performance but also the operational safety and lifespan of a vehicle or industrial machine. With over 70 years of metallurgical heritage and more than 30 years of modern engineering vision, we produce these complex parts with a "zero defect" principle in our integrated facilities in Ankara.

Forming one of the most technical layers in our Product Overview hierarchy, this group relies on geometries that push the boundaries of casting technology and superior material properties. At MGM, we manage the entire process, from raw material analysis in the crucible to micron-level tolerances achieved after machining and CNC processing, according to global OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards.

Safety Critical Braking Systems and Metallurgical Excellence

Brake components must be metallurgically flawless because they are exposed to high friction and sudden temperature changes. Brake parts produced by MGM Casting stand out with their ability to quickly dissipate heat and their high fatigue resistance.

Why is casting quality crucial in brake components?

The high kinetic energy released during braking causes thermal stresses in the microscopic structure of the metal. With our expertise in ductile iron and cast iron solutions , we optimize the graphite structure to produce parts that are resistant to cracking and have high vibration damping capacity. Our brake drums, discs, and caliper housings, especially those produced for the automotive and heavy commercial vehicle sectors, successfully pass the most demanding braking tests.

  • Brake Drums and Discs: Special alloy grey cast iron (pig iron) solutions providing high wear resistance.

  • Caliper and Support Bodies: Engineering & R&D- supported ductile iron designs that strike a balance between strength and lightness.

Transmission and Gearbox Housings: Stability Under High Torque

Transmission systems are mechanisms that transmit enormous amounts of power, with thousands of parts working in harmony. The housings, which are the "shells" of these systems, must maintain the precise alignment of the internal mechanism.

MGM Casting utilizes the machine park and technical capacity of its 75-unit CNC machine park for components with complex internal structures, such as gearbox housings and planetary carriers. Machining tolerances for gear bearings and shaft housings are reduced to ±0.01 mm, guaranteeing quiet and efficient system operation.

  • Gearbox Housings: Heavy-duty, impact-resistant housing designs for agricultural and farming machinery .

  • Planetary Carriers and Covers: Parts with a homogeneous casting structure that distribute the load evenly in torque multiplier systems.

  • Heat Treatment Support: Controlled heat treatment processes applied to minimize wear on gear contact surfaces.

Engine Components: Heat Management and Vibration Control

The auxiliary components surrounding the engine block perform critical tasks such as balancing thermal loads, damping vibrations, and maintaining structural integrity. MGM Casting develops specialized components that increase engine efficiency and extend engine life.

Our Engineering & R&D team optimizes part weight without compromising strength by using "lightweighting" technologies in engine mounting brackets, flywheel housings, and manifold parts. This provides a significant advantage, especially in areas where fuel economy is critical, such as Construction and Industrial Machinery .

  1. Flywheel Housings: Castings with homogeneous mass distribution that do not create balance problems at high speeds.

  2. Engine Mounting Brackets: Ductile iron solutions that dampen dynamic engine loads.

  3. Pulley and Pump Housings: Components with sealing surfaces perfected by machining .

Traceability and Quality Standards in Production

In brake and engine components, the margin of error is not only a cost issue but also a safety concern. At MGM Casting, we track every part from raw material input to final shipment with a unique serial number or casting code. Our Quality & Certifications department monitors the conformity of the part with its digital twin at every stage through spectrometric analyses, ultrasonic inspections, and 3D CMM dimensional measurements.
